At JL Bug Designs, our mission is simple yet heartfelt: to preserve memories through clothing and t-shirt quilts. We understand the sentimental value attached to the clothes we wear and the memories they hold. That's why we take great pride in handcrafting quilts that encapsulate your most treasured moments.
We have a unique approach to our craft. We work on one quilt at a time, ensuring that all our creativity and energy are dedicated to each project without distractions from multiple endeavors. This singular focus allows us to pour our heart and soul into every stitch, resulting in quilts that are truly exceptional.
With over two decades of experience, we've had the privilege of creating countless quilts for people all across the United States. Our journey began in 2003, and since then, we've been honored to be part of your stories, turning loved old shirts, and clothing into cherished keepsakes that can be passed down through generations.
Jenn's journey into the world of sewing is a heartwarming tale of family tradition and a serendipitous twist of fate. From her early days under the guidance of her mother and grandmother, who passed down the art of sewing, to her eventual venture into entrepreneurship, Jenn's story is one of passion and dedication.
Sewing first became a part of Jenn's life when she was just 13 years old, learning the craft from the two most important women in her life. However, her sewing adventures took a temporary backseat until a pivotal moment when her boss invited her to explore new sewing machines. Little did she know, this outing would reignite her love for sewing, leading her to purchase a sewing machine of her own.
In 2003, with the arrival of her first child, Jenn's sewing journey entered a new phase. She began crafting beautiful quilts as gifts for her friends who were welcoming babies into their lives. Her friends were so impressed by her work that they encouraged her to turn her hobby into a business.
And so, JL Bug Designs was born. Jenn's entrepreneurial spirit led her to create "mommy and me" quilts, designed to bring joy to both little ones and their cherished baby dolls. The warmth and creativity she poured into each quilt quickly gained attention.
But it was a chance connection through a friend of a friend that truly set her on the path to becoming a sought-after artisan. At the request of someone seeking a T-shirt quilt, Jenn eagerly accepted the challenge. She received a collection of cherished clothes, and with her skilled hands and a heart full of passion, she crafted her very first T-shirt quilt.
From that moment on, Jenn's reputation as a talented quilt maker grew, and her business flourished. Her dedication to preserving memories in the form of beautifully crafted quilts has touched the lives of many.
Today, Jenn continues to bring her love for sewing and design to every creation, ensuring that each piece carries not only the fabric but also the heart and soul of its maker. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for her craft, Jenn invites you to explore the world of quilts through JL Bug Designs.

T-shirt Quilts: The most popular queen size quilt (25 - 30 shirts) is $450, this price includes all materials and labor cost.
Custom-Sized Quilts: I charge $50 per hour plus the cost of materials. Most quilts take 6 to 10 hours of labor, and material costs usually range between $50 and $100, depending on fabric requirements.
I try to stay within a reasonable budget while maintaining quality. Let me know what you're hoping for, and we can discuss options.
If you have a specific deadline, please let me know so I can determine if I can accommodate it.
I am based in the Denver, Colorado area. If you're local, we can discuss options for dropping off and picking up your quilt. If you are not local, please text me 303-885-8478 and we can arrange shipping.
Please feel free to browse through this site, as I have a lot of pictures of projects here.
I've been making t-shirt and clothing quilts for 21 years and I handle each quilt from start to finish.
Just send clean, washed shirts. Stains and spots are ok. Please DO NOT cut your shirts. All of my designs are based on the biggest graphic so in some cases I need a lot more of the shirt. Also, if you are not local, please mark the graphic to be used with masking tape or painters tape. Do Not use duct tape as the residue stays.
I keep you in the loop from the time I receive your shirts until the quilt is finished. I ask for input throughout the process.
You can reach me via text at 303-885-8478. You can email as well, JLBugDesigns@gmail.com
We schedule an in person meeting lasting between 1/2 hour and hour to go through all the shirts, and mark the graphics you want used. I also show you various examples and we pick out colors, backing fabric, etc.
